Cookies
SocialCareScore does not use cookies, tracking or similar technologies on any public page. The only cookie we use is a strictly necessary sign-in cookie for our own moderators and administrators.
Summary
Public pages
Our public pages are built so that they work without storing anything on your device:
- we do not set cookies, and we do not use local storage, session storage or similar browser storage to recognise you;
- we do not use analytics, advertising, social media plug-ins, embedded videos, web fonts or content delivery networks;
- forms are protected by a signed token that is sent with the form itself, not stored on your device;
- to prevent automated abuse, the rating form asks your browser to complete a short calculation. The calculation happens in your browser's memory and nothing is saved on your device.
To prevent abuse, we briefly keep a scrambled code derived from your network address. It is not a cookie, it cannot be turned back into your address, and it is deleted after 48 hours. Our privacy notice explains this.
The admin sign-in cookie
Moderators and administrators sign in to a separate, restricted area of the website. When they do, we set one cookie so that the website remembers they are signed in. Members of the public never receive this cookie.
| Purpose | Who receives it | How long it lasts | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keeps an authorised moderator or administrator signed in, and protects admin forms against misuse | Signed-in moderators and administrators only | Until they sign out, close their browser or are inactive for a set period | Strictly necessary, first party, secure and not readable by scripts |
This cookie is strictly necessary to provide the admin service that the moderator or administrator has asked to use, so consent is not required.
No third parties
Every file on our pages comes from our own website. Your browser does not contact any other company when you visit SocialCareScore, so no third party can set cookies or track you through our pages. Our security settings tell browsers to block content from other websites.
If you follow a link from our website to another organisation, such as a council, a helpline or a regulator, that organisation's own cookie policy applies.
Other technologies we do not use
- tracking pixels or web beacons;
- device fingerprinting;
- advertising or profiling identifiers;
- session recording or heatmap tools.
Our web server logs do not record your network address, the address of the page you came from, search terms or details of your browser. They are deleted after 14 days.
The law
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 control how websites store or access information on your device. Because we do not do this on public pages, and the admin cookie is strictly necessary, we do not need to ask for consent. You can still block or delete cookies using your browser settings. Doing so will not affect your use of the public website.
Changes and contact
If we ever plan to use cookies or similar technologies on public pages, we will update this page before we do so and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
