Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use SocialCareScore, including disabled people and people using assistive technology. This statement explains how accessible the website is, what we know does not yet work well, and how to ask for help.
This website is run by [Operator legal name — to be confirmed before launch]. This statement applies to the public pages of socialcarescore.co.uk, including the rating form, withdrawal and reporting forms, and the open data pages. It does not cover the restricted area used by our moderators.
Using this website
We have designed this website so that you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen or needing to scroll sideways;
- navigate the whole website using just a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus indicator;
- use a screen reader, speech recognition software or screen magnifier;
- use high contrast or forced colours modes provided by your device;
- turn off animations by setting your device to reduce motion;
- read every chart as a table of figures;
- rate your experience without solving a visual puzzle or remembering a password;
- use the website without JavaScript. If you do, your rating is held for a person to check instead of being rejected.
We use plain English, text colours with strong contrast, large targets for buttons and links, and score bands that are always shown with words and numbers, not colour alone.
Compliance status
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA.
The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 apply to public sector bodies. SocialCareScore is run by an independent organisation that is not a public sector body, so those regulations do not apply to us. We follow them voluntarily, including by publishing this statement. We also have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.
Known limitations
We know about the following limitations and are working on them:
- Welsh language. The website is not yet available in Welsh. You can write your comment in Welsh and it will be moderated in the same way. We plan to publish Welsh-language pages.
- Charts. Charts, maps and heatmaps are images drawn in the page. Each one has a table with the same figures, which you can use instead.
- Form time limit. For security, the rating form expires after about 2 hours. If this happens, your answers are not saved and you will need to start again. Tell us if this causes you difficulty.
- Security check. The rating form asks your browser to complete a short calculation to stop automated abuse. On older devices this may take a few seconds. If it does not work, your rating is held for a person to check rather than rejected.
- Automatic removal of details. To protect everyone's anonymity, the form removes words that look like names, places or dates. It sometimes removes words it should not. You will always see what has been removed and can change your comment before you submit it.
- Light theme only. A dark theme is planned. You can use your device's high contrast or forced colours settings in the meantime.
- Documents from other organisations. We link to inspection reports and statistics published by other organisations. We are not responsible for how accessible those documents are.
Alternative formats and other ways to take part
If you need information on this website in a different format, such as large print, easy read, audio or braille, or a table of figures sent to you in a format that works for you, email hello@socialcarescore.co.uk.
If you cannot use the rating form, contact us and we will explain the other options available. Please do not include names, dates, addresses or case details in your message. Emailing us means we will see your email address, so it will not be as anonymous as using the form. We will only use it to reply to you, and we will not store it with any rating.
We will reply within 10 working days.
Reporting accessibility problems
We are always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find a problem that is not listed on this page, or you think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, email hello@socialcarescore.co.uk. Tell us the web page address, what you were trying to do and what assistive technology you use, if any.
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can follow our contact and complaints process.
Technical information
The website is built with HTML and CSS, with JavaScript used only to improve the experience. Every page works without JavaScript. It does not use third-party scripts, fonts, video players or cookie banners. Pages are designed to work with current versions of common browsers and assistive technologies.
How we prepared this statement
This statement was prepared on 14/09/2026 based on the design standards used to build the website. It will be updated after accessibility testing, which will be completed before launch, and reviewed at least once a year.
